Whew! What a week & weekend. Haven’t been posting since I’ve been prepping for the Rediscover Makiki/Urban Arts Center this past weekend.

The City & County of Honolulu, in partnership with Friends of Makiki Community Library and Hui O Makiki, sponsored Rediscover Makiki: Sunset in the Park. It included movies at night, craft fair, keiki rides, book sale, Urban Arts Center and much more.

Loved the vibe at the Urban Arts Center. They sectioned off the volleyball court and had youth dancers, spoken word, hip hop rhymes, skate demos and many well known graff artists (Prime, J, Eukarezt, Altoe). DJ on hand was amazing! Take a look HERE for more photos.

It was nice to see designers like APB, Guys Skate Gear, Rockshop and Freelance participating and keeping active in the community. My husband was so stoked to meet his childhood hero, pro-skater Jeff Hartsel!! (Hartsel is also an artist and designer. He did the above sharpie piece.)
Hear they are planning a large scale mural on the Ke’eaumoku St. bridge at the end of the year and will be doing Urban Arts Center on a larger scale. If you are interested in volunteering (I am) or participating, call Makiki Community Library at 808.522.7076.
Get out there, make a difference and meet your neighbors.

Got lucky with the camera last week capturing some lightning flashes.
Scored a Soul Clap shirt from Eskae. Congrats on the 4 years and keep the fire!
