A harrowing tale about a book headed towards doom, only to detour towards its author upon a European journey back to Airspace Workshop.
I received an article about Personal Kaizen: 15 Tips to continuous improvement. After reading it, I was left with complete inspiration and motivation. I felt 18 years old again and the world was at my feet.
Kaizen is the japanese philosophy of continuous improvement. In America we tend to lean towards “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Successful japanese companies have used this improvement theory as a practice and tool but it may also be applied personally.
Learning an instrument, participating in a Pecha Kucha event or even watching a TED conference are ways to enhance oneself.
The willingness to learn and the capacity to see the lessons around you will lead you on a path to Kaizen.

Looks like I’m on the set of MadMen….I could only hope…
This has to be my favorite era of design; clean, sleek and functional. It was stylish in the 60’s and is still relevant today.

Found this great post at one of my fav blogs, Decorology. It’s a chart that House Beautiful put together.

Great to reference when you are updating your home.

If only travel posters still looked like this!
Traveling to the mainland, I always make it a point to stop by my favorite store, Anthropologie. Not only do they have unique products but their visual display blow me away.

That’s why I was so excited to find Wary Meyers Decorative Arts website. The hubby (John Meyers), in this husband and wife team, used to be the Corporate Display Director for Anthropologie.

His imagination is crazy genius! Take a look at the image above…it’s a sculpture of plastic straws that imitate frost. Anyway, the site shows off their individual art as well as a collaboration of interiors that they do (and more Anthropologie pix).

Love the cool pet portraits. If you can’t afford some of their pieces, keep your eyes open at Urban Outfitters. Their products are sometimes sold there.

Innov8 Magazine
Haven’t looked inside this magazine yet, but by just seeing the cover, I’m hopeful. They used Charley Harper’s Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park poster. I’ve been searching high and low for this one. Out of print, it has to be for sale somewhere…

I love paper products. Whenever I come across a stationary set or notecards, I hoard them…it’s a problem. No more guilt, I came across the Karma Card.

Paper Reincarnation by New Leaf Paper has a vision for a sustainable paper industry. Waste from one process becomes food to another. When you send someone a card, they tear off the front of the card and send to someone else as a postcard. Genius!

100% PCW recycled, it’s a card with an afterlife! Check out New Leaf Paper Here.
p.s.-I found these at Office Depot. On sale, a pack of 8 with envelopes were about $3.

When I saw this photo, I thought it was another feature on living in small spaces. It looked like an apartment I would like to live in.

Until I read the article and realized it was a prison in Austria (can you see the barbed wire fence off the balcony now?).

Thought the visiting room looked like a modern office.Great article from the New York Times, Austria has a different approach in dealing with their prisoners. It’s not just a place for white collar crimes but all types of criminals.
